Summertime is still service time with the Alamance County Service League! Our members continue to volunteer during the summer months, often bringing along our children, so the next generation learns what it means to serve.
The Alamance County Service League is a volunteer organization made up of women who want to make a difference in the community.
Members volunteer their time with several area non-profits, including Meals on Wheels, the Friendship Center, the Alamance-Burlington School System and Christmas Cheer. Last year, our members volunteered more than 4,000 hours to the non-profts we serve.
The Service League also raises money to support area non-profits and for our Special Services Fund, which provides financial asssistance to individuals and families in need. The Special Services Fund directly helped more than 30 families last year, with needs ranging from rent and utilities to clothes, furniture and even funeral expenses.
In total, the Alamance County Service League gave more than $24,000 to our community last year.
